HISTORICAL PLACES (with properties open for viewing here too)

Stanley Grossman, President of the Middletown Historical Society, has announced summer visiting hours for two properties belonging to the organization.

Boyd's Wind Grist Mill and Paradise School will be open to the public on Sunday Afternoons during July, August, and September from 2:00 to 4:00pm. Admission is free but donations to help maintain the buildings will be accepted.

The windmill, the only eight-vaned mill in the country, is located in Paradise Park at the corner of Prospect and Paradise Avenues. It was moved from Portsmouth to this site several years ago, and is in working condition.

Paradise School, which serves as the Middletown museum and as headquarters for the Historical Society, has numerous displays relating to the history of the town, including a Rhode Island doll collection, cannon balls from the Revolution, Native American stones and many photographs. Paradise School is also located in Paradise Park.

Trained docents will be on hand at both locations and registration forms are available for those wishing to become members of the Society. All publications issued by the organization will be available for purchase.

For those of you who navigate using GPS, Paradise Park is located at N41° 30.057' W71° 16.172'.
